On June 15th, the Tech Diplomacy Network and World Economic Forum co-hosted “AI Agency? Brainstorming the Building Blocks for Global AI Governance.” The event, which featured participation from tech diplomats, researchers, and private sector stakeholders, was a crucial step towards evolving a shared comprehension of artificial intelligence governance and demonstrating the necessity for engaging in multi-stakeholder exchanges. Speakers noted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing the risks posed by AI, creating robust standards, investing in research and development, and establishing an international agency to govern the emerging technology. Through breakout group discussions, participants were able to engage in open-ended conversations on AI-imposed risks, developing frameworks, and centralized governance approaches.
