1. Data Processing
1.1. Data processing in the context of making contact
Tech Diplomacy Network uses your contact data solely for the purpose of administration and as a service provider. Your subscription data is used to keep you informed about news and events regarding tech diplomacy in business, government, research, science, and the arts. To prevent fraudulent use, Tech Diplomacy Network reserves the right to deny network registration or to remove faux profiles. All data management practices prior to the implementation of the GDPR have been valid and in accordance with the law.
1.2. Data processing for the execution of events
We process your data to fulfil a contractual relationship and/or with a lawful basis – provided that you participate in our events – in order to organise and implement the event.
We may take photographs and video recordings of you during the event while documenting the event. We process these images on the basis of our legitimate interest in documenting the event and facilitating media reports about the event (such as in newspapers, magazines, publications or on websites and social media platforms).
1.3. Data processing for the purpose of direct advertising
If we have received your contact information in the context of the use of our services, you may receive messages by post, email and SMS to promote other, similar products and services we offer. In this case, we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interest in initiating business contact regarding services we offer. This legitimate interest is the consequence of our interest in sending you messages to inform you of news, current offers and events on a regular basis and to advertise our service offer. You can object to the processing of your data for the purpose of direct advertising at any time.
If you register for our newsletter, we will regularly send you information about us. Your consent is the lawful basis for this processing. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time.
2. Recipients of the Data:
Tech Diplomacy Network addresses a wide variety of audiences, and stakeholders, however, no personal data is provided neither to private persons or institutions, nor to governmental institutions, without your explicit consent. Tech Diplomacy Network will disclose private data to governmental institutions only when required by law.
In all other cases, we will process data on the basis of your consent. In this case, we will still explicitly indicate this to you.
4. Social media plugins—YouTube and Vimeo
Our website uses social plugins, which enable us to display interactive elements or content (e.g. text, graphics, images and videos) from social media services. At present, we use plugins for YouTube and Vimeo. These plugins can send data to YouTube and Vimeo and in some circumstances can then be used by them. When integrating social plugins for YouTube and Vimeo, we use what is known as a two-click solution. This means that, if you visit our website, data will not automatically be transmitted to YouTube and/or Vimeo. Data will only be transmitted to YouTube and/or Vimeo if you click on the video’s play button. The transmission of data to YouTube and/or Vimeo is therefore based on your consent.
5. Newsletter plugin—Mailchimp
At present, we use the newsletter tool Mailchimp for the Tech Diplomacy Network newsletter. When subscribing to Tech Diplomacy Network’s newsletter via the registration form on our site, the plugin sends data to Mailchimp. The data provided by you in the registration form will be transmitted to us. The registration process for our newsletter is a double opt-in procedure. After having registered for the newsletter on our website, an email will be sent to the email address provided. You will have to reconfirm your registration. You can cancel your subscription at any time. The transmission of data to Mailchimp is therefore based on your consent.
5. Further information
Information collected from users of this site will be stored on servers in the US, and will be used only to the extent necessary for the purposes indicated and described to you. You have the right of access to your stored data in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, the right to rectification of inaccurate data in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR, the right to erasure of data in accordance with Art. 17 GDPR, the right to restriction of processing in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR, the right to data portability in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR as well as the right to object to unreasonable data processing in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR.
If processing is performed on the basis of a declaration of consent, you have the option to revoke this consent at any time; if you do so, the legality of the processing performed on the basis of your consent prior to its revocation shall remain unaffected.
You have at any time the right of recourse to the European Data Protection Supervisor at email@example.com
We require the data we request from you to provide our services in the context of the contractual relationship and/or to provide information you have requested from us or to send you our newsletter and other information. If you do not provide the requested data, we cannot perform our services.
We do not use automated decision-making including profiling. If we process your personal data for a reason other than the reason for which the data was collected, we will notify you of this and inform you of the new purpose.
