We are thrilled to announce the presentation of the inaugural Tech Diplomacy Award took place last week, during the 2024 Montgomery Summit in Santa Monica, CA. Each year, the Tech Diplomacy Award will honor a distinguished leader by acknowledging exceptional contributions to the Tech Diplomacy field through innovative and visionary leadership.

Our first awardee, Nathaniel C. Fick, the U.S. Ambassador at Large, Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, is an accomplished technology executive and entrepreneur. He has been instrumental in advancing tech diplomacy within the U.S. government and around the world. His visionary leadership and commitment to promoting international solidarity on issues of technology policy have made a significant impact on the global tech landscape.

In an increasingly interconnected and transforming world, tech diplomacy is the future of all diplomacy. Ambassador Fick is a trailblazer for tech diplomacy as a vital tool in our increasingly complex international system, and governments around the world are watching as the State Department integrates and elevates these issues across its foreign policy. Recognizing the crucial role of technology in shaping international relations and our new geopolitical realities, Ambassador Fick has made it a top priority to build cyber and digital expertise across the Department, including placing a trained cyber and digital officer at nearly every mission.
